Nitrogen Generator Long Term Storage Tips

Many users need to store nitrogen generators for a long time due to seasonal idle periods, project suspension, or equipment replacement plans. Improper long-term storage will cause component aging, pipeline rust, molecular sieve failure, and electrical circuit damp damage, resulting in equipment failure and inability to start normally after storage. Scientific long-term storage preservation measures can fully protect the equipment, maintain complete performance, and ensure smooth reuse after idle storage.

Complete thorough cleaning and internal impurity removal before long-term storage. First, run the nitrogen generator in idle mode for 10–15 minutes to exhaust all residual impure gas inside the equipment. Then perform full drainage work to drain all accumulated water and oil in the compressor tank, filter, and pipeline to avoid internal rust and mold growth caused by residual moisture. Disassemble and clean the filter elements, remove surface dust and oil dirt, and replace severely blocked and aging filter elements. Wipe the equipment shell, surface pipelines, and control panel with a dry soft cloth to remove dust and stains, and keep the whole machine clean and tidy without impurities.

Carry out pressure maintenance and sealing protection for the gas system. After cleaning, start the generator to produce high-purity nitrogen, and fill the internal pipeline and storage tank with nitrogen to 0.3–0.4 MPa low static pressure. Slightly positive internal pressure can effectively prevent external humid air, dust, and corrosive gas from entering the equipment, which is the key to protecting internal components. After pressure holding, tightly close all inlet and outlet valves, drainage valves, and maintenance ports, and seal all pipeline interfaces with plastic film and sealing tape to achieve full closed protection. Avoid zero-pressure storage, which easily causes air infiltration and internal component corrosion, and avoid high-pressure storage that causes long-term load on valve components.

Implement environmental placement and electrical system protection. Store the nitrogen generator in a dry, cool, ventilated, and dust-free indoor environment, avoiding outdoor placement, direct sunlight, high temperature, and humid corrosive environments. Keep the storage area away from chemical reagents, water sources, and high-heat electrical equipment to prevent component aging and corrosion. Cut off all power supplies, unplug the power cord, and store the cord neatly to avoid aging and damage. For long-term storage exceeding 3 months, cover the whole machine with a dust-proof and moisture-proof cover to isolate external dust and moisture. Regularly check the storage environment every month to ensure no water accumulation, mold, and dust pollution around the equipment.

Master standardized reuse startup steps after long-term storage. Before reusing the stored generator, remove the dust-proof cover and sealing materials, and check all valves, pipelines, and electrical circuits for damage and aging. Conduct a full-system leak detection and drainage again, then perform idle operation for 20 minutes to preheat the equipment and exhaust residual impurities. Gradually adjust the working pressure to the rated parameter, test nitrogen purity and gas output, and confirm that all functions are normal before formal use. Following these long-term storage and reuse guidelines can maximize equipment service life and avoid unnecessary maintenance losses caused by improper storage.
