Beer Nitrogen Generator vs CO2 Tank

In beer brewing, draft beer dispensing and beer fresh-keeping links, nitrogen and carbon dioxide (CO2) are the two most commonly used protective and pressure-bearing gases, and there are obvious differences in performance, use effect, cost and safety between beer special nitrogen generators and traditional CO2 tanks, which are suitable for different beer application scenarios. CO2 tanks are the traditional gas supply method for beer industry, which are mostly used for conventional beer fermentation pressure maintenance and ordinary draft beer pressure delivery. However, CO2 is soluble in beer, excessive CO2 dissolution will lead to excessive beer foam, sour taste enhancement, and affect the original mellow flavor of beer. At the same time, CO2 tanks are high-pressure pressure-bearing equipment, which has safety hazards such as leakage and explosion, and the transportation and replacement of gas tanks are cumbersome, with high long-term use cost.

Compared with CO2 tanks, beer-dedicated nitrogen generators show more prominent advantages in beer fresh-keeping, draft beer delivery and flavor optimization. Nitrogen is insoluble in beer and has stable chemical properties. Using nitrogen for beer pressure delivery and sealed fresh-keeping will not change the taste, acidity and foam performance of beer, and can perfectly retain the original flavor of craft beer and draft beer. In terms of use effect, nitrogen can form a dense inert protective layer on the surface of beer liquid, isolate air oxygen, effectively prevent beer oxidation deterioration and taste deterioration, and extend the fresh-keeping period of draft beer by 2-3 times compared with CO2 protection. In terms of economy and convenience, nitrogen generators realize on-site gas production and on-demand use, with one-time investment and long-term use, eliminating the repeated purchase and transportation cost of CO2 tanks. The equipment can operate continuously for a long time without frequent replacement, which is more suitable for bars, breweries, draft beer houses and other scenarios with continuous gas demand. In terms of safety, nitrogen generators have no high-pressure storage link, low operating risk, and no suffocation hazard caused by CO2 leakage accumulation. At present, in high-end craft beer brewing and commercial draft beer supply scenarios, nitrogen generators have gradually replaced CO2 tanks, becoming the preferred gas supply scheme for improving beer taste and extending fresh-keeping time.
